The Chief Investment Officer (CIO) is responsible for defining and executing the organization’s investment strategy, overseeing portfolio management, leading investment appraisal and capital allocation decisions, and supporting capital raising initiatives to drive long-term value creation.
The role works closely with the Finance function to ensure strong financial discipline, robust analysis, and effective governance, while remaining clearly focused on investment outcomes rather than statutory finance operations.
The CIO will come in as a business driver and play an instrumental part in leading business opportunities and supporting business growth. The role requires a strong sense of ownership and leadership to support and enable the overall business objectives.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or related discipline
- A postgraduate qualification (MBA or relevant Master’s degree) is an advantage
- Minimum of 15–20 years post-graduation experience in investment management, corporate finance, private equity, asset management, or related roles
- Proven experience in portfolio management and investment appraisal
- Demonstrated exposure to capital raising and investor engagement
- Experience of working closely with senior leadership

Investment Strategy & Portfolio Management
- Develop and execute OMSA’s overall investment strategy in alignment with corporate objectives and risk appetite.
- Oversee and manage the organization’s investment portfolio, ensuring optimal asset allocation and risk-adjusted returns.
- Monitor portfolio performance and recommend rebalancing, divestments, or new investments as required.
- Establish portfolio monitoring, performance benchmarks, and reporting framework
Investment Opportunity Identification & Appraisal
- Identify, originate, and evaluate potential investment opportunities aligned with OMSA’s strategic priorities.
- Lead and support the investment appraisal process, including financial modeling, valuation, scenario analysis, and risk assessment.
- Oversee financial due diligence for new investments and strategic projects.
- Prepare and present investment proposals and recommendations to executive management.
Capital Allocation & Capital Raising
- Lead capital allocation decisions to ensure effective deployment of financial resources.
- Drive capital raising initiatives, including equity, debt, or structured funding arrangements.
- Engage with financiers, financial institutions, and funding partners to support investment and growth objectives.
- Ensure capital raised is deployed in line with approved investment strategies and return expectations.
Financial Oversight & Support to Finance Function
- Work closely with the Finance team to ensure alignment between investment strategy and overall financial planning.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning from an investment perspective.
- Review financial assumptions, models, and analyses supporting investment and portfolio decisions.
- Provide leadership and support in strengthening the organization, structure, and cohesion of the Finance team, ensuring the function is well-aligned, high-performing, and strategically focused.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the organization’s overall financial strategy, while maintaining a clear focus on investment-related outcomes.
